We introduce the relationship between physical processes and the flow of information, and the role of IT in logistics. We will explain the concept of a database and how users can communicate with it. During the lab sessions we will learn how to retrieve data from a central server using short statements written in SQL.

Packaging technologies

We will introduce the basics of packaging technology, define the main tasks involved, look at the packaging materials that can be used and the equipment that can be assembled from them. Informatics in logistics

The course will give an insight into the processes of e-commerce, for example what happens when an order is placed. We will look at the theoretical background of communication and encryption, and we will also talk about Internet protocols and ERP systems. During the labs, you will be introduced to a software in which you will have to perform tasks related to purchasing and invoicing.

In most logistics projects, it is not just one person, but a whole team that is required to achieve the goals set. The scope of project management methodology is very broad, but the real challenges lie in its practical application. The course offers the opportunity not only to acquire theoretical knowledge, but also to gain practical experience through individual project work, typically in groups of 2-4 people, over the whole semester.

By developing a logistics topic of your choice, you will show us how to apply the knowledge you have learned during the courses. You will explore the current situation on a quantitative basis and, after having identified and prioritised the problems, you will conceptually develop one or more proposals for improvement and explain their expected impact.
